The Colourful Elephant wrapped in barbed wire refers to Salome Zourabichvili's "pink elephant" metaphor.

It recalls her statement during the 2018 presidential campaign, when she compared impossible-to-prove accusations against her to the idea of proving that one is not a pink elephant.

The phrase emerged in response to accusations from political opponents who claimed that she was a pro-Russian candidate or had links to Russia because of her background as a former French diplomat and her positions on certain issues. Zourabichvili argued that such allegations were impossible to disprove, just like proving that one is not a pink elephant. The phrase later became a political symbol in Georgia, referring to absurd allegations and the difficulty of disproving them.

The barbed wires that carry the elephant away symbolize the barbed wires of occupation.
