Megobari Act

The MEGOBARI Act is a proposed U.S. law aimed at strengthening democracy, human rights, and the rule of law in Georgia. It seeks to counter authoritarian influence from countries like Russia, support Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration, and promote civil society, fair elections, and accountability. The Act allows for sanctions and reporting on officials undermining democratic processes. The current status is: passed by the House of Representatives, but blocked in the Senate and not enacted.

The geoglyph "MEGOBARI Act" is an almost 400-meter-long ground inscription in the village of Didi Nedzi near Anaklia on Georgia’s Black Sea coast. Created by artist and activist Rosto Zarandia, it aims to draw both local and international attention to the significance of the "Megobari Act," currently pending a vote in the US Senate. The site, located about 13 kilometers from the Anaklia port project, was deliberately chosen for its symbolic value, representing the failed Georgian-American initiatives. Zarandia and several other activists spent 15 days creating the geoglyph on pastureland, with each symbol measuring approximately 50 metres in height. He described his work as "agro-art", he made it with a tractor, sowing the plot with clover so not to harm the farmland.
